Elmo : Shut the F*ck Up!

Anxiety (Elmo)

How can I explain to you - Imagine Anxiety as Elmo, but instead of giggles, it’s Elmo running around saying, “Hey! Hey! Elmo is here“! Did Elmo leave the oven on?! Elmo’s not even allowed near the oven!” He’s bouncing up and down, wide-eyed, going, “What if Elmo forgets how to count? What if Elmo sneezes during nap time and scares Cookie Monster away forever?”

Meanwhile, everything’s perfectly fine, but Elmo’s flailing his arms, “Ahhh, Elmo’s worried about EVERYTHING! What if the sky falls? What if Big Bird’s feathers get stuck in a tree?” Poor Elmo, always in full "what-if" mode! Uh “What if Elmo lays the fck down”? Or “What if Elmo shuts the fck up ? I love Elmo, he’s my fave, but I had to 🤫

Shhhhhhhh

Hush the f*ck up! That is the problem correct? All the “What Ifs” need to shut the F*ck up right? Quiet the noise. Anxiety (Elmo) whoops the F*ck out of me and millions of people daily. Teehee. It takes management. There are remedies to help calm the noise. We know medication works of course, other homeopathic ways like deep breathing works, counting backwards, math problems, studies say even pop a low-dose preferably 5 mg (THC)gummie.

But how to silence the doubt? Repetition is key, utilizing the tools and techniques that bring solace, any amount of quiet will safice. You are not alone in this battle, help yourself with treatments that help with mental clarity. For instance exercising daily more than one time is very effective and works, workouts that help you focus and concentrate but low impact. Listening to calming music, meditation, Yoga. Wtf? Yoga? Fckthat…..Not that basic stuff you see on tv. There are no rules to peace of mind, so don’t limit yourself, do what works for you. Get the F*ck out the basic small box of what the world says, Fckthat put some seasoning on it. Try to catch a vibe.

According to some studies one vigorous exercise session can help alleviate symptoms for hours, and a regular schedule can significantly reduce them over time. For instance, went to an amazing event called Fit & Flow out in Oakland, Ca a couple weekends ago, met so many people with great positive energy.

How to catch a vibe

Picture this setting (Fit and Flow): Roof top, sunny 90 degree weather, calm, soothing, live music and entertainment during Yoga class, strength and conditioning workouts and sexy Afro Beats class plus good food. All the artists and musicians had Grown & Sexy vibes, some Erika Badu or Jill Scott could have floated out to the rooftop at any moment type shiiih. It was dope. Thank you all for the dope vibes.

How to quiet the noise

There are many ways to quiet the noise of anxiety including :

  • Relaxation techniques: Try deep breathing, dropping your shoulders, or imagining yourself in a relaxing place.

  • Body-mind practices : Try yoga, tai chi or meditation.

  • Soothing sound : Listen to calming music while practicing deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation.

  • Exercise : Regular exercise can release endorphins and improve mood.

Perform at least one of these exercises for at least 10 - 20 minutes a day. That’s no time compared to the intensity level and duration of discomfort. Take your time, focus on deep thorough breathing techniques that will calm you down and create a more clear mental state.

  • Avoid stimulants : Reduce caffeine and alcohol, which can often have the opposite effect to what you might think.

  • Get rest : Getting appropriate rest releases endorphins.

  • Hydration : Helps with a clearer state of thought.

  • Fuel your body : Being hangry never helps. Have a proper meal.

What are endorphins?

*Endorphins - The body’s natural pain killer. Hormones that your body produces to relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve mood.

Because endorphins help relieve stress, researchers speculate a deficiency of endorphins could contribute to higher anxiety. Studies ave shown that anxiety is more likely if you have lower overall levels of endorphins. Endorphins also aid “coping” behavior in response to a stressful experience.

FckThat : Let me sum it up a bit, self - care is what it’s called, FckThat. Get out in the sun for at least a hour. Sometimes you gotta pop out and create your own peace. There are no rules in anxiety, you never know when it’s gonna hit, and there may not be a place you can be alone, that’s why the breathing techniques are so vital . Breathing techniques are a great life skill and you can breathe your way through anxious and/or painful times. It’s a big woo-sah, take the time to let it pass. Get your rest when possible, and f*ck everything else, self - care is a necessity. Catch a vibe.
