THE STRUGGLE
Have you ever did something, or said something and knew right away that you fcked up, and you prolly made a mistake, but it’s too late to take that shit back? You thinking, why did I open my big ass mouth? Now you low key pissed at yourself. But you meant well, but there’s a possibility you double booked. Here come all the fcking “what ifs.” Do you make good decisions because you are a good person with morals, or will you be okay with doing the opposite? Conviction or anxiety? Will either guide you to make the right
CONVICTION AND ANXIETY
When you have conviction, clear values, beliefs, and direction, it reduces uncertainty and smashes anxiety. Anxiety often thrives on not knowing what to do or second guessing your choices. Conviction acts like an anchor, helping you feel grounded and less throwed by doubts. this can cause you to make mistakes.
ANXIETY CHALLENGES CONVICTION
On the flip side, anxiety makes you question yourself, replay decisions, and fear judgement. Even is you have strong convictions, anxiety can cloud your ability to act on them confidently. It creates tension between what you know you believe and what you fear might happen.
CONFIDENCE VS CONVICTION
The key difference
Confidence = Belief in yourself.
Conviction = Belief in something bigger than yourself (an idea, principle, or truth).
THE RESULT
Don’t get it fcked up, remember anxiety loves uncertainty. It shows up when you’re stuck in the “what ifs,” second guessing yourself, or fearing the judgement of others.
Conviction, on the other hand, is your anchor. It’s knowing what you believe, what you value, and what you stand for. When anxiety pushes you into doubt, conviction is what pulls you back to solid ground.
WHEN THEY WORK TOGETHER
Anxiety, while being very uncomfortable, can push you to look closer and examine your convictions more deeply and refine them. And once you act from conviction, even through fear, it often calms anxiety, because you know you stayed true to yourself. Conviction gives direction, while anxiety tests that shit. Learning to lean on conviction can be one of the most powerful ways to hush up anxiety.
TENSION BETWEEN THEM
Even strong convictions, anxiety can cloud your judgement. You might know what’s right for you, but still feel paralyzed by worry, fear, or self-doubt. That’s the tug-of-war. Conviction gives direction, while anxiety makes you hesitate. The good news? Acting on conviction, even through fear, usually quiets anxiety because you know you stayed true to yourself.
CONVICTION AS A TOOL
The next time anxiety creeps in, pause and ask yourself: What do I believe in the moment? What matters most to me? Let conviction guide the decision, not fear. It doesn’t erase anxiety overnight, but it gives you a compass when your mid feels like chaos. And with each choice rooted in conviction, anxiety loses a little more of its power.
2-STEP GROUNDING EXERCISE
Step 1. Pause & Breathe - Take three slow breaths to calm your body.
Step 2. Ask & Anchor - Ask yourself: “What value do I want to honor right now?”
Act in line with that, even if fear is loud.
