Your Weekly Source For Truth & Clarity

THE HUB

In households all over the world the kitchen is often considered the heart of the home, the hub is more modern, that is where families hangs out the most making it look messier than it really is which for me is a trigger so that’s no good. I found out that in feng shui, your kitchen holds an even greater significance. By aligning your kitchen with feng shui principles, you create a physical and emotional sanctuary where the act of cooking and spending time becomes nurturing and restorative.

Kitchen feng shui helps soothe anxiety and:

  1. Boosts mental clarity and balances energy.

  2. Brings emotional stability and encourages mindfulness.

  3. Reduces overstimulation and promotes relaxation.

  4. Improves health and lifts your mood.

  5. Cuts down overwhelm and creates a sense of calm.

A great way to get the whole family involved while keeping kitchen clutter under control.

DECLUTTER

Over 70% of American families use the kitchen as a multifunctional space, the kitchen table is used as a place for catching up, playing games, and doing homework or arts and crafts, and family meetings highlighting the kitchen's role as a central hub for various family activities. (MIRA)

Feng shui principles in the kitchen can soothe anxiety by creating a space that feels harmonious, grounded, and supportive to well-being. Here's 5 ways how decluttering your kitchen specifically reduces anxiety and stress and promotes calmness and helps life go a bit smoother starting in the morning.

DAILY RITUALS

Here are some kitchen routines specifically designed to make your kitchen a soothing, anxiety-reducing space while aligning with feng shui principles you can practice to help you throughout your day.

1.Mindful Morning Rituals

Begin your day by tidying the kitchen for a clean, fresh start. Boil water for tea or coffee while focusing on the sound and warmth. Open a window or light a candle to refresh the space.

2.Evening Wind-Down Routine

Wipe down countertops and put away dishes for a clean slate in the morning. Dim the lights or use softer lighting in the evening to create a relaxing atmosphere. Play soft background music while cooking or cleaning to create a meditative mood.

3.Decluttering Sessions

Once a week, spend 10 minutes organizing one section of the kitchen (e.g., spices, pantry, or utensils). Donate or discard items you no longer use to maintain a sense of openness and flow.

NATURE

Add anxiety-soothing kitchen decor to get the positive energy flowing in your kitchen, the other areas were covered already, feel free to recap (Jan.10 post Watch Your Mouth & Try Feng Shui)

#1  Add plants or herbs (fresh energy)

Plants symbolize growth, renewal, and vitality, and they bring calming wood energy into the kitchen. (1)small pots of basil, mint, or rosemary near the window for fresh cooking herbs (2) a low-maintenance plant like a pothos or peace lily on a shelf or countertop or (3)a bamboo plant for luck and prosperity.

#2 Add calm color palette

Soft, earthy tones (beige, cream, light greens, or soft blues) soothe the mind and reduce overstimulation. (1) add soft-colored dish towels, placemats, or curtains (2) choose neutral or pastel-colored storage jars and containers. (3) paint walls or cabinets with calm tones, if possible.

LIGHTING
#3 Add warm, uplifting light

Warm, layered lighting feels comforting and reduces anxiety by creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere. (1) install under-cabinet lighting for a soft glow during evening cooking (2) add a small decorative lamp on the counter for ambiance. (3) use warm lightbulbs rather than harsh, cool-toned ones.

#4 Incorporate natural textures

Natural materials like wood and stone feel grounding and reduce the cold, sterile vibe that some kitchens can have. (1) wooden cutting boards or utensils on display (2) a stone fruit bowl or ceramic jars for storage and (3) a jute or woven mat in front of the sink for added comfort.

#5 Use uplifting artwork

Positive imagery can shift your mood and bring joyful energy to the space. (1) hang artwork or prints with themes of food, nature, or abundance (2) avoid sharp, aggressive, or chaotic imagery. Opt for soothing landscapes or vibrant fruit/vegetable illustrations (3) use an inspirational quote or mantra framed near the kitchen. This is not just something to say, in my household this is actually practiced.

DIY

#6 Incorporate symbols of abundance

These symbols encourage a sense of plenty, which can reduce stress about scarcity or uncertainty. (1) keep a bowl of fresh fruit (like oranges or lemons) on the counter (2) place a small jar of rice or grains in clear glass containers to symbolize stability and abundance (3) add a small mirror to reflect light or food preparation areas (symbolically doubling abundance).

#7 Choose calming scents

Scent is directly connected to mood regulation and can immediately calm the nervous system. (1) use a small essential oil diffuser with calming oils like lavender, citrus, or chamomile (2) simmer a pot of water with cinnamon sticks, orange slices, and cloves for a natural, soothing aroma (3) use lightly scented, non-toxic cleaning products with eucalyptus or lemon.
