THIS WEEK’S TOPIC

If this is not the most anxious things ever. Ok, so Fck The Big 3. Like, what is “Good” or “Bad Credit”? When was the last time you checked your credit score? If not so recently, you better check that shit cuz they prolly fcked you. What is a credit check and why is it needed. No soft pull. The fck, I’m telling you my shit is trash up front. Ever tried to get some grown-up shit like an apartment, furniture or a car and they run your SS number and immediately shake they head like they saw Micheal Myers or Jason Voorhies coming toward them with a big ass knife or some shit? You can fix that though.

Guess what? I’m suing the fck outta Big 3. “I’m putting cases on all them Btchs! King Kong ain’t got nothin’ on me”! Did you say that with me? No, seriously, it’s cold how they do us, this treatment is outrageous— We’re done letting these faceless corporations ruin our credit scores over nonsense. The system is broken, it’s rigged. All for something that should be automatic. How is it that my money isn’t good enough, and my credit is worse but they insist on running your shit? Time for the credit bureaus to face accountability. No wonder why anxiety is on the rise. Remember to Focus. Ground yourself. Reframe thoughts.

Credit Score Ranges (FICO):

  • 800–850: Excellent

  • 740–799: Very Good

  • 670–739: Good

  • 580–669: Fair

  • 300–579: Poor

Good = 670+
Bad = Below 580

FCK THE BIG 3

Let’s talk about the credit bureaus—those faceless entities that hold your financial future in their hands. The Big 3 Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

How it works

These big three run the show when it comes to determining your credit score, but here’s the kicker: they can damage it over things you don’t even recognize, and somehow, they’re allowed to do it. Missing one payment or having a bill reported as a “negative inquiry,” even when you’ve never seen or used the service in question, can ruin your score. You didn’t even know you had an issue, but these guys seem to find ways to mess up your score, all while you try to figure out how to get it fixed.

What is Credit?

Credit is essentially the ability to borrow money or access goods and services with the promise to pay for them later. When you use credit, you're borrowing money from a lender (like a bank, credit card issuer, or other financial institutions) with the agreement to repay the borrowed amount, usually with interest. But is it The American Way?

RECOVERY

The real fun begins when you try to recover from these credit hits. Have a late payment on something you’ve never had? Boom, negative marks appear. How? Maybe someone mixed up your name with another person or maybe you never even heard of the company that reported it. Guess what? They don’t give a fck! You're the one who has to spend hours dealing with a maze of automated customer service lines, pleading with people who couldn’t care less. Mailing a bunch of paperwork, and making hella copies, it does work though with a bit of stick-to-it-iveness. Even if you manage to get the error corrected, that ding stays on your credit report for a long time. Seven years to be exact. Just a little reminder of how someone else’s mistake—or pure nonsense—can make life that much harder. Here’s how you stay in good standing with the Big 3.

GET THE CREDIT

Here’s where it gets even shadier. You’re busting your ass paying bills like rent, utilities, and subscriptions. These are the things you’re paying religiously, month after month. You would think this would build your credit, right? Wrong. Unless you're using one of those third-party services to report rent payments, these things don’t get any credit love. Yet, if you fail to pay, the same bill companies can report you to the credit bureaus and suddenly your score is tanking. Crazy right? Makes you wonder how paying rent on time every month doesn’t deserve any recognition, but missing one utility bill that you thought was paid by autopay can sink your score. Is this shit even real? Check this out.

The most common credit score (FICO) is calculated based on several factors:

  • Payment History (35%): Whether you pay your bills on time.

  • Credit Utilization (30%): The amount of credit you're using compared to your credit limit. Lower utilization (below 30%) is generally better.

  • Length of Credit History (15%): The longer your credit history, the more reliable your credit score is.

  • Types of Credit in Use (10%): A mix of different types of credit accounts (credit cards, mortgages, auto loans) can be beneficial.

  • Recent Credit Inquiries (10%): Applying for new credit can lower your score temporarily, as it suggests you're taking on more debt.

THE REAL ENEMY

But hold on—getting your credit score back on track? That’s where the real comedy kicks in. Once you get hit with a negative mark, the process of getting it removed or fixed feels like trying to move mountains with a toothpick. Even if you get your claim approved or a mistake corrected, those pesky bureaus make it harder than it needs to be. They drag their feet, send you on wild goose chases, and while you're still fighting the good fight, your credit score remains on life support, slowly inching toward recovery—unless you have the time, patience, and resources to keep pushing for months, if not years.

HIDDEN TRUTH

So, what’s the takeaway here? Do you think the credit bureaus have us all locked into a system where they make it incredibly easy to damage our credit scores and incredibly hard to fix them? All while ignoring the bills that should help build our credit. As if paying rent on time every month and trying to be responsible isn’t enough, they still find a way to make us feel like we’re constantly being punished. Meanwhile, they keep running the game, making billions off our backs. It’s time to start calling out this monopoly, because the way they operate isn’t just broken—it’s rigged. They keep charging us , we keep paying without knowing. That’s it, that’s how America keeps running. How with a bunch of anxious not only adults now kids.

 MESSAGE OF HOPE

Now, several recurring payments, such as rent, utilities, and streaming subscriptions, do not automatically count toward your credit score because they aren't typically reported to the credit bureaus. However, there are ways to make these payments count, such as using rent reporting services or charging them to a credit card. If these services were more widely reported, it could benefit consumers (you) by helping them build or improve their credit scores.
