KEY TO GOOD HABITS (JAMES CLEAR)

Key Strategies to Remember:

  • Make it Obvious: Cues in your environment.

  • Make it Attractive: Pair with something enjoyable.

  • Make it easy: Start small

  • Make it Satisfying: Immediate rewards

GOOD HABITS MADE SIMPLE

Creating good habits isn’t about willpower, it’s about designing your life so the right thing becomes the easy thing. To create good habits, do four things: start small and make them obvious, attractive, easy, and satisfying. “I’ll meditate 30 minutes every day,” vs. “I’ll take 3 deep breaths when I wake up. Your brain resists change, but it accepts tiny upgrades. Once a habit is automatic, you can scale it. Tiny, automatic, bigger

HABIT STACKING

You achieve this by (habit stacking) which is linking new actions to to existing routines. Designing your environment to support change, and tracking progress for accountability, but still being patient and allowing occasional slip-ups. You don’t create new habits, you anchor it. After I make coffee, I stretch for 30 seconds. Your brain already knows the trigger. You’re just adding a new actions.

THE LITTLE THINGS

Focus on identity-based changes, celebrating small wins, and consistently showing up, even if just for a minute, to build lasting discipline. If tit requires motivation, it will fail. Design the environment:

  • Put meds next to your toothbrush

  • Keep fruit where you see it

  • Put your journal on your pillow

  • Delete apps that pul you off track

Discipline is unreliable. Environment is unreliable.
